Johannesburg – Andres Iniesta scored with four minutes of extra time remaining Sunday to give Spain a deserved 1-0 win over the Netherlands and a first World Cup title.

Germany edge Uruguay in PE
Port Elizabeth – Sami Khedira’s 82nd-minute header earned Germany a 3-2 victory in a rousing and rain-soaked World Cup third-place playoff match with Uruguay on Saturday.

Ghana keep African hopes alive
Rustenburg – A stunning goal from Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan earned the Black Stars a 2-1 win after extra time against a hard working United States and kept Africa’s World Cup dream alive in a tense Last 16 clash played at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday night.

Dutch send Slovakia home
Durban – Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder scored in each half on Monday to give the Netherlands a 2-1 win over Slovakia and a spot in the World Cup quarter-finals.

The fourth shot into the net sent them into ecstasy.

Europe dominates semifinal lineup
So much for South Americans dominating this World Cup.
